About the direction

Hydraulic engineering studies the impact of water flows on hydraulic structures and riverbeds, methods of protection from the eroding and erosive effects of water; develops methods for regulating river flow; develops a theory of durability of hydraulic structures and foundations, etc. Theoretical research in the field of hydraulic engineering makes it possible to create models of hydraulic structures in laboratory conditions, test them, create methods for their calculation and construction. The use of water energy in hydraulic engineering practice (see Hydropower), agricultural land reclamation, industry, etc. provides water to facilities, discharges excess, sewage and polluted water from residential areas and enterprises (see Sewerage), protects residential areas, enterprises, structures and agricultural land from floods.
