Information Systems and Technologies (by branches and fields) (Higher Logistics School of the Czech Republic) (1+2).

Information System (IS) — is a system designed to store, retrieve, and process information, as well as related organizational resources (human, technical, financial, etc.), for the purpose of information provision and communication (ISO/IEC 2382:2015).

An IS serves to provide the necessary information to the individuals in need of information in a timely and accurate manner, that is, to meet the specific information needs within a certain subject area, and the outcome of the operation of information systems is the information products - documents, information masses, databases, and information services.

Information Technology - is a collection of related fields that encompass computer systems, software, programming languages, data, and the associated areas of data processing and storage. Information technology (IT) forms a subset of information and communication technology (ICT). An IT system generally refers to an information system, communication system, or specifically, a computer system, including all hardware, software, and peripheral equipment - managed by a limited group of IT users and an IT project, aiming at implementing and maintaining the IT system.
