About the direction
Hydrotechnical structures are structures designed to utilize water resources or combat the negative effects of water erosion. Hydrotechnical structures are divided into two groups based on their importance - those of general importance and those of special importance. Hydrotechnical structures of general importance include water reservoirs, water intakes, water distribution systems, and water supply structures. Water reservoirs (dams, reservoirs) create differences in water pressure or water surface before and after the structure. Water intakes (water receivers) serve to channel water from its source (river, lake, water storage, etc.) into canals.
