Mother tongue and literature (Russian language)

The Russian language is the language of the Russian people, one of the most widely spoken languages in the world. First in the USSR, then in the Russian Federation and the CIS, it was a means of inter-national and inter-state communication. Russian is one of the 6 official languages of the United Nations. Together with Ukrainian and Belarusian languages, it forms the eastern group of Slavic languages belonging to the family of Indo-European languages. According to data from the 80s of the last century, the total number of Russian speakers is 250 million people, including 185 million people in the current Russian Federation and the CIS countries. In addition, more than 60 million people in these regions can speak Russian fluently.
