About the direction
Railway — 1) a transport enterprise carrying passengers and cargo, equipped with a set of technical means and facilities (trains, wagons, stations, automatic and telemechanical devices, dispatching service, etc.). Depending on the task, it is generally used (highway); used in industrial transport, ore mines and other places; city railway (tram, metro); depending on the width of the track interval, it is wide-tracked and narrow-tracked. Rail spacing 1676 mm (India, Spain, Argentina, Chile, etc.), 1520 mm (Russia, Uzbekistan, etc.), 1435 mm (most European countries, Canada, USA), 1067 mm (Japan, Indonesia, etc.); 2) railway tracks; consists of a superstructure, a ground sheet and artificial structures. The superstructure consists of rails, rail joints, turnouts, sleepers, sleepers and ballast layers. The ground sheet consists of risers and grooves, and serves as the ground for the road surface. Man-made structures include railway bridges, tunnels, viaducts, drainage pipes, retaining walls and others. Road markings (kilometers, pickets, etc.) are installed along railway tracks (see also Railway transport).
