About university

The university branch in Tashkent was established on March 28, 2001, by Order No. 1356 of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation. The Tashkent branch of the Plekhanov Russian University of Economics is a competitive educational institution, known for its distinguished history and strong faculty. The branch successfully carries out its activities. Here, a threefold process is implemented, including educational, scientific, social, and extracurricular work.

The activities of the branch in Uzbekistan are regulated by two resolutions of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan. These are the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated September 5, 2002, No. 318, and the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated August 22, 2011, No. 239 “On Amendments and Additions to the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated September 5, 2002, ‘On the Establishment of the Branch of the Russian Economic Academy in Tashkent.


Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs are based on the following methods: lectures, case studies (analysis of economic situations), seminars (development of business plans), business games, use of computer technologies, practical training according to the chosen profile, interactive lectures, group projects, individual and group presentations, and scientific seminars.

The branch’s curriculum includes innovative elements:

  • increasing the share of independent work for students;
  • using modern technologies and teaching methods;
  • the possibility of creating an individual study program by selecting elective courses;
  • research projects in collaboration with companies and organizations;
  • development of case studies in various subjects under the guidance of faculty members.

Over the years, the branch has trained more than 3,400 bachelor’s and master’s degree students, who are in demand in the regional labor market.

Alongside citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan, students from Russia, Ukraine, Armenia, China, and other countries also study at the branch.


The Tashkent branch has the Faculty of Digital Economics and Finance, the Faculty of Economics and Business, and six departments:

  • Foreign Languages and Humanities
  • International Economics

The branch provides high-quality higher education in economics. Key factors include modern teaching methods, deep specialized knowledge, and opportunities to study information technologies and foreign languages.

The branch’s greatest asset is its faculty: more than 70% of instructors hold PhD or Doctor of Science degrees.

The branch has implemented the Moodle distance learning system, allowing students to study electronic materials anytime and anywhere. Modern computer labs, interactive classNamerooms, language laboratories, lecture halls equipped with multimedia technology, and an Information and Resource Center with over 25,000 books and an electronic library are also available.
